Breakout Renewing Education in America – Cultural Transmission, Character Education, and Civic Virtue
Renewing Education in America – Cultural Transmission, Character Education, and Civic Virtue

America is facing a crisis. Students are graduating without a clear understanding of America’s founding principles or their civic responsibilities. Schools are failing to transmit the cultural knowledge and moral foundation necessary for a thriving republic, leaving students unprepared for the challenges of self-governance. Opposing CRT and gender ideology is not enough. Neither is a focus on “the basics” or STEM. The Phoenix Declaration offers a comprehensive response to these challenges by calling for education that goes beyond “college and career readiness” to focus on the full formation of each child.

This breakout session explores how the Declaration’s principles of cultural transmission, character formation, and civic virtue can restore education’s central purpose: preparing students to be informed, virtuous citizens who understand that “a civilization survives only if it intentionally transmits its history, traditions, and values to the next generation.” Participants will examine practical strategies for implementing educational approaches that cultivate both academic excellence and moral character, teaching students to engage with America’s intellectual heritage while developing the personal virtues necessary for self-governance and the civic knowledge essential for maintaining our constitutional republic.

Families today are facing unprecedented pressure to hand over medical decisions to schools, healthcare systems, and government bureaucrats. In this breakout session, we’ll explore how to restore parental authority in medicine, highlight model legislation that protects families from ideological coercion, and equip parents with practical tools to protect their families from government overreach and safeguard their children’s health.
