Years of injustice have been building to this moment. 

Tuesday, June 9, 2026 was the second hearing from the House Judiciary Committee on the SPLC, and this time the leader of the SPLC was called to testify before the committee.

SPLC interim president Bryan Fair sat across from the House Judiciary Committee members as he was made to hear just a fraction of what the SPLC smears have done to mainstream, ordinary Americans.

There were many powerful exchanges.

Rep. Mark Harris forced Mr. Fair to watch the video of the convicted would-be killer from 2012 confess he only targeted Family Research Council (FRC) for mass murder because of the SPLC hate map. He also referenced some of the testimony submitted by Moms for Liberty members about the negative impact the SPLC smears have had on their lives.

Rep. Tom Tiffany also pressed Mr. Fair directly about Moms for Liberty asking, “Why was it important to add Moms for Liberty to your hate map?”

And how did Mr. Fair justify adding Moms for Liberty chapters to their hate map that includes actual extremist groups like the KKK and Neo-Nazis? 

In his reply Mr. Fair says, “Moms for Liberty interferes with parental rights. I’m a parent too…  Moms for Liberty says it gets to decide for me and other parents in this country. That’s not liberty.”

No, Mr. Fair.

We are not the ones trying to exclude parents from decisions concerning the upbringing and education of their children.

We are for parental rights for all Americans, including you.

In fact, this month for the second year in a row we’ve declared June “Parental Rights Month” and to celebrate we’ve just launched a new toolkit on parental rights. A toolkit that can benefit all Americans whatever their politics or ideology. 

So, what now?

First, we are determined to make sure the SPLC is held accountable. We have submitted testimony to the House Judiciary Committee from Moms for Liberty members directly impacted by the SPLC hate label.

We will continue to make the public aware of the SPLC’s smear machine and the harm they do to ordinary Americans and mainstream conservative organizations.

Second, we press on with our work to save America by defending parental rights at all levels of government.

Because it is moms from Moms for Liberty that have driven back, and continue to drive back, woke ideology and far left indoctrination efforts in state after state across the country.

Since our inception five years ago, we have been the most effective parental rights grassroots movement in America.

We will continue our work to defend parental rights for all Americans, and to push back the anti-American ideologies trying to forcibly indoctrinate the next generation behind parents’ backs.

As a teenager, I was convinced I did not want to be a mother. It seemed burdensome, and I had dreams of traveling, seeing the world and being free. I saw children as something that would interrupt those dreams, weigh me down and confine me to a life I wasn’t sure I wanted.

Then I gave birth to my first child.

And everything changed.

The moment I held my newborn son in my arms, something profound shifted inside me. In the days and weeks that followed, my son suffered seizures, a stroke, and spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit. I did not know whether he would survive. If he did, I did not know what kind of life he would have.

And in that moment, I finally understood motherhood.

In that moment, I knew without hesitation that I would give everything to save him, even my own life. Nothing else mattered anymore. My priorities, my dreams and my plans all became irrelevant in an instant. My existence, and every decision I made, became centered on my children.

I suspect every mother has a version of this story.

Some women know from childhood that they want to be mothers. Others grow into the role over time. Some women never have children of their own but devote themselves to nieces, nephews, students, foster children, or the young people placed in their care.

What unites us is that love leads us to sacrifice.

Years ago, I learned something fascinating about the word “sacrifice.” It comes from the Latin sacrificium, meaning “to make sacred.” This understanding transformed the way I think about motherhood.

When a mother sacrifices for her child, she is not merely giving something up. She is making something sacred. She is placing the needs of another human being above her own desires because she recognizes the immense value and dignity of that child.

That sacred responsibility has consequences far beyond the walls of our homes.

Mothers are the first teachers. Long before children encounter textbooks, teachers, or institutions, they learn from the example of those raising them. Mothers help shape character. They teach right from wrong, resilience in hardship, kindness toward others, and courage in the face of adversity. They provide the security and consistency that allow children to flourish.

The importance of motherhood was not lost on America’s founders.

George Washington famously remarked, “All I am I owe to my mother.” John Adams once wrote, “Whenever I hear of a great man, I always inquire, who was his mother.”

They understood a truth that remains just as relevant today: the future of a nation depends on the character of its citizens.

America’s experiment in self-government is unique because it places extraordinary trust in ordinary people. But self-government requires self-discipline. Liberty requires virtue. A free society can only endure when citizens possess the moral character necessary to govern themselves.

That character does not emerge by accident.

From the earliest days of our Republic, mothers played a central role in preparing children to become responsible citizens capable of preserving freedom. They taught not only academic lessons but also the values that make Liberty possible: honesty, responsibility, courage, self-restraint, and respect for others.

That responsibility remains today.

The family is more than the basic unit of society. It is the foundation of freedom itself. Strong families produce strong citizens. Strong citizens sustain strong communities. And strong communities preserve a strong nation.

When parents lose the ability to guide the upbringing and education of their children according to their values and convictions, the foundation of self-government begins to erode. The question of parental rights is not merely a political debate. It is a question about who bears the primary responsibility for raising the next generation.

The answer should be clear.

Parents matter.

Mothers matter.

And the sacrifices they make every day matter.

Motherhood is not a limitation on freedom.

It is one of the highest expressions of it.

And in a nation founded on Liberty, there may be no more sacred calling than raising children who understand how to preserve it.

That is why, on February 24, 2026, when Congressman Bob Onder introduced the Chloe Cole Act of 2026 (H.R. 7651), it felt different.

This bill creates accountability where there has been very little. It establishes a federal right for individuals who were subjected to puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or surgical procedures as minors to sue providers and institutions. It extends the statute of limitations to 25 years after turning 18, recognizing that many do not fully understand the extent of harm until adulthood. In addition, it closes the legal gap that has prevented many detransitioners from seeking justice.

It does not regulate adult decisions. It provides recourse when irreversible harm is done to children.

Two years ago, I met Chloe Cole and heard her heartbreaking story firsthand.

Chloe began medical transition at 12. She was placed on puberty blockers, started testosterone at 13, and underwent a double mastectomy at 15. She has described how quickly the process unfolded once “gender” became the explanation for her distress. Therapy became affirmation and gender was the answer. Risks of treatments were minimized.

When her parents hesitated, they were warned that refusal could lead to suicide. Imagine being told that loving your child means consenting to the removal of healthy body parts.

Today, Chloe lives with permanent consequences, surgical complications, unknown fertility, the inability to breastfeed, and ongoing health challenges. She grieves decisions made before she was capable of understanding their lifelong impact.

Stories like this make me angry.

Angry that fear replaced caution. Angry that confusion was treated with prescriptions instead of patience. Angry that children navigating normal adolescent insecurity were told transforation was the answer.

What should we have told them instead?

You are beautifully and wonderfully made.
Feelings are real, but they do not change biological reality.
Emotions deserve compassion, but they do not determine sex.
Distress deserves care, not irreversible intervention.

We should have slowed down and we should have paused on life-altering interventions. We should have helped children navigate distress, addressed depression, anxiety, trauma, social pressures, and the host of factors that shape adolescence. We should have stabilized, not medicalized.

Cultural Messages in the Classroom

In many schools, students are introduced to the idea that gender is separate from biological sex through tools like the “Gender Unicorn” and certain social-emotional learning materials. During some of the most fragile developmental years, normal adolescent discomfort can be reframed as being “born in the wrong body.” In some districts, schools have socially transitioned students without parental notification.

Children are impressionable. Schools should not be planting ideological seeds that steer vulnerable students toward medical pathways. That is why many states are now passing, or working to pass, legislation to remove gender ideology from classrooms and restore parental authority.

Parents who question this messaging are often shamed into silence. And when a child has already internalized that narrative, families can find themselves under intense pressure to affirm it, sometimes leading to medical decisions made in fear rather than caution.

From Activism to Authority

This did not spread by accident. Activist organizations repeated the messages relentlessly: gender is fluid, affirmation is lifesaving, the” science is settled”. Those who questioned it, were called names and accused of harming children. Repetition turned advocacy into accepted “facts” while skepticism became taboo. We saw medical organizations adopting the same framing. Policy statements were issued, clinical guidelines we updated, and hospitals opened gender clinics. What started as ideological messaging was elevated to medical consensus.

But consensus declared is not the same as consensus proven.

Now the narrative is cracking. Reporting by The New York Times has raised serious questions about whether major medical groups sidelined dissenting voices and moved ahead of the evidence. The Family Research Council has reported that multiple state Attorneys General are pressing the American Medical Association over its advocacy on pediatric gender transitions. Even the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has signaled that the evidence supporting surgical interventions for minors is not as settled as once portrayed. When Attorneys General are scrutinizing the AMA and professional societies begin recalibrating their positions, one thing becomes clear: this was never beyond question.

I think that narrative is beginning to fracture. We are already seeing legal consequences. In a widely reported case, a young woman received a $2 million settlement after suing the surgeon and psychologist who approved her mastectomy at 16 despite serious mental health concerns. When liability becomes real, behavior changes.

At its core, this is simple:

Children cannot consent to sterilization.
They cannot comprehend lifelong hormone dependence.
They cannot foresee regret at 25 when they are 12.

They needed adults to protect them; to provide time, reassurance, and patience, not puberty blockers and scalpels.

The Chloe Cole Act rests on a straightforward principle: if irreversible harm was done to a minor, accountability must follow. Children deserve protection, not profit and parents deserve truth, not terror. When the system fails, justice must still be possible.
